OpticFilm 7600i SE is a dedicated 7200 dpi film scanner, which makes scanning easier, more efficient, and the unique light source gives images more vivid effect and precise color rendering. The Plustek OpticFilm 7600i SE is an environmental-friendly high resolution scanner coming with more improved quality and greater power saving. The scanner comes nicely packaged in a large box. I would essentially have the same workflow to make digital albums, send for prints, make photo books or publish on the web. I also have a lot of old negatives and slides that I would love to digitize so I can use them as easily as I use my digital-from-the-start images. However, I still have some old film cameras lying around that I really like to use from time to time. I mostly make pictures using my DSLR or a digital point-and-shoot now-a-days. To get the image into the computer it has to be scanned. Then, through a chemical process, the film is developed to create the final image. Instead of a digital sensor collecting photons there is a light sensitive emulsion onto which the light is shone. For each colour patch a sample area of 10 x10 pixels (100 pixels) has been used. The resulting 8bit CIELAB images have been used to identify the mean CIELAB-values for all patches.

The rendering intent was absolute coloirmetric and the used CMM was the Adobe (ACE). 4: Scan of the reflection target (15 x 10 cm) R Data preparation The scanned RGB images have been converted to CIELAB, 8 bit per channel, using Adobe Photoshop CS3. The detailed scanning and colour management settings are depicted in the figures 1 to 3.Д¤ of 6 Fig. All automatic transformation have been switched off. The scanning resolution was 300 dpi (dots/pixels per inch), the mode was RGB, 16 bit per channel, and the pertinent ICCprofile was tagged to the scanned images. Though two ICC-scanner profiles have been created. Both the reflective and the transmissive (positive polarity) scans have been made after an automatic IT8-calibration. Before the scans have been made the lamp was warmed up by scanning 10 arbitrary images. The scanner, Epson Perfection V750 Pro, was connected to the computer via USB.

Software Setup The software SilverFast (version 6.6.1r1a) has been installed on a MS Windows XP operating system.
